![]() The following day Snookers hosted the first annual New England Pool and Billiards 9 ball tournament. The inductees were given a chance to speak about their experiences and to receive a beautiful plaque from the New England Pool and Billiards president, Tom McGonagle. Many people showed up that night to honor the achievements of the 23 new inductees it was a wonderful event. On March 12, 2010, the “new” New England Pool and Billiards Hall of Fame celebrated its comeback with an induction ceremony. Somewhere up there Ray is smiling down on his dream. ![]() Sadly, Ray passed away unexpectedly before the new location opened its doors. Together they compiled an impressive amount of material about New England pool and billiard players. Ray Desell teamed up with another longtime player and promoter, Tom McGonagle, himself a Hall of Fame inductee. In 2009 it was decided that the Hall of Fame be moved to its present location in Snookers at 53 Ashburton Street in Providence. From 1995 to about 2005 there were 37 players inducted into the Hall of Fame. Ray spent many years collecting pictures, articles, and anything he could get his hands on about New England pool players. The Hall of Fame was the brainchild of Ray Desell, a longtime player and promoter of the game.
